Application of Principles of Ayurveda

Why is Digestion So Important in Ayurvedic Medicine?

Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine developed in India that looks at human health from a holistic perspective.  There are a wide range of treatments in Ayurveda;  the core of the system is based on a belief that disease occurs when a bodily system is out of balance, which is the same as my philosophy around stimulating the body’s innate healing abilities.

Known as agni (fire) in Ayurvedic medicine, your digestive power is directly responsible for your energy and vitality levels, which is what keeps you healthy and disease free. Because many people have years of blocked-up issues in their digestive tract. The Center offers personalized internal body cleansing therapies to help my clients reignite their digestive fire.

Invented over 3,000 years ago and still practiced widely in Asia, Ayurvedic medicine is becoming more and more popular in the West because it addresses the root causes of many chronic illnesses better than Western medicine.

What Kind of Ayurvedic Treatments are Available?

A complete medical system and method of obtaining optimal health, Ayurveda encompasses everything from oil massages to dietary programs to meditation techniques, all based on individual body types and specific imbalances. Ayurveda also employs a full pharmacopeia of medicinal plants that can be taken as tea or supplements that are prescribed for a wide range of ailments. The digestive system is of utmost importance in Ayurveda, something I have incorporated into my practice wholeheartedly here at the Center for Wellness and Integrative Medicine after discovering for myself just how important it is.
