Eating For Vitality

The simple statement “you are what you eat” couldn’t be truer when it comes to your state of vitality. When you eat processed, nutrient-less foods that are full of hard to digest fats, your whole body pays the toll with a lowered energetic state and even a reduced resistance to illness. My approach is to retrain people to see their food as medicine and make the connection between what they eat and how it makes them feel, so that food choices become conscious. When you are eating for vitality, you feel better on a daily basis and are giving your body the fuel it needs to let its innate healing abilities start to flow.

Food as Medicine

The idea that what you eat is largely responsible for your health is as old as humanity itself. The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates famously claimed, “Let your food be your medicine.” But in the modern days of junk food and instant meals, we seem to have forgotten the wisdom of our ancestors, and the current plague of chronic illnesses like obesity, diabetes and depression are largely due to this. Diet is probably the most important element of my treatment plans here at the Center for Wellness and Integrative Medicine, and I will briefly explain why.
